What is Reverse charge mechanism (RCM)?

Definition

Under the reverse charge mechanism, the buyer, not the seller, pays the GST to the government on certain notified supplies.

It applies to specified goods and services and to purchases from unregistered suppliers in notified cases, so the buyer must account for the tax in their own books.
