How to set up in-process and final quality checks

IndustryX Suite Team 1 min read Intermediate

Available in Foundation and above

Step 1: Decide what to check

For each product list the characteristics to inspect, such as dimensions, finish or weight, with the accepted limits.

Step 2: Set up the checks

Define an in-process quality check for the stages where defects are costly, and a final check before release.

Step 3: Record results during production

At each stage, record the result against the production job. Note rejected quantities and the reason.

Step 4: Final check and release

Before the finished goods are received into stock, do the final check. Only accepted quantity moves to saleable stock.

Step 5: Learn from rejections

Review rejection reasons regularly. A repeated reason points to a machine, material or method problem to fix at the source.

Why check during production and not only at the end?

Catching a defect early saves the time and material spent on later stages.

Which plans include quality checks?

In-process and final quality checks are included from the Foundation plan.

What happens to rejected quantity?

Record it with a reason so it is not counted as saleable stock. You can then decide whether to rework or scrap it.
